Exact Detail Replicas 1968 Firebird 400, Limited Edition 1/18th Scale Di

Designed in less than six months, the Firebird was started after and built on the same platform as the Camaro. The Firebird name was borrowed from a series of experimental gas turbine cars built by GM in the 1950s and 60s. The first Firebird was introduced on February 23, 1967. Though it shared many components with the Camaro, the Pontiac designers did their best to make it look like a Pontiac. They gave the new car the famous wide-track look by including wider tires and the distinctive divided grille. And they built on the reputation of the GTO by installing the powerful Pontaic engines in the cars.

Exact Detail Replicas 1965 El Camino with Flames, Limited Edition 1/18th

Some cars become famous in their own right and others because of their owners. Jeff Smith's flamed 1965 El Camino is a little of both. Jeff purchased this 1965 El Camino from a friend for $2000 and a set of big-block Chevy rectangle port heads and almost didn't make the short trip home when the front u-joint turned to dust. Jeff wanted a pickup, but with a growing collection of Chevelles, this El Camino seemed like a perfect combination. Plus, this particular one was a factory 4-speed with air conditioning car that made it irresistible. The story goes that the original owner used the little Chevy to pull a giant Airstream trailer all over the Pacific Northwest. Jeff was the editor of Hot Rod magazine at the time and the El Camino later appeared as a budget buildup in the magazine with a mild 350 small-block and the original Muncie 4-speed. Eventually, the new 350 sawed itself in half, so Jeff dropped in an old 305 out of a 1980 Malibu that served as daily transportation for many years. Jeff's friend Pete Santini offered to repaint the pasty white exterior, which gave the El Camino a rejuvenated appearance even if the air conditioning never worked. Later, after Jeff took the job as the editor of Chevy High Performance magazine, it came time for a story on how to paint flames in the May issue of 2000. Jeff again called upon Pete Santini to work his magic. This is when the dramatic transformation from street urchin to boulevard hero occurred. Once the flames licked their way across the El Camino's nose, the rest of the car, including the engine compartment desperately needed attention. Frank Saenz, a friend and professional muscle car restoration artist, did a fantastic job repainting and detailing the engine compartment while another friend, Ed Taylor, installed a new small-block. This engine was actually the same Goodwrench Quest engine that had appeared in multiple stories in Chevy High Performance magazine, eventually muscling up to 400 hp. Combined with a Ce

Exact Detail Replicas 1968 Shelby GT500KR, Limited Edition 1/18th Scale

The "KR" stood for "King of the Road" - a name that was supposedly taken from General Motors, who was going to use the moniker on a big-block version of their Camaro, but that sly Texan Carroll Shelby beat them to the punch (something he enjoyed doing to GM both on and off the track). The GT-500KR used Ford's new 428 Cobra Jet engine opposed to the 428ci Police Interceptor engines used in the '67 and '68 GT500's. The 335-hp claimed by Shelby was most likely a gross understatement, but was a number given to help lower insurance costs. A total of 933 GT-500KR fastbacks were produced along with 318 convertibles, and they are the most sought after versions of the '68 model year. This Lane GT-500KR is perfect for a true car fan. The fully wired and plumbed engine is complete with correct coloring and replica decals. Even the radiator cap is shiny chrome. Opening the two doors will reveal outstanding interior detail from the gauges to the floor board. The trunk holds a little tool box and spare, and even a replica Shelby cowboy hat!

Exact Detail Replicas 1970 Chevelle Cheap Street, Limited Edition 1/18th

Car Craft Magazine has long been a haven for fans of American Muscle cars, as well as a source for hardcore DIY types who like to spin the wrenches on their own cars. In keeping with these themes and as a means of showing readers that cool cars can be built on basic budgets, Car Craft launched Project Cheap Street Chevelle in the fall of 1994. The basic premise was to locate the right car- something from the muscle era of the lates '60s/early '70s- and then fix it up gradually, all while sticking to a budget. To keep the initial cost down, the car would be in need of some renovations, but the end result would be the type of street machine any Car Crafter would be proud to own. This diecast is a replica of the Cheap Street Chevelle that Car Craft created in their early 1990s quest for a rebuild project. After serving as a test mule and surviving grand theft auto, the original car became the grand prize drawing for the 2003 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour.
